About

Hanne Marie le Fevre is a classically trained mezzo-soprano and performance artist. She performs both as a soloist and ensemble member, focusing on early and contemporary music. She trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and pursued private studies in Paris, Berlin, and Basel.

In the realm of early music, Hanne collaborates with local and European chamber ensembles. She has performed with groups such as Aarhus Barok, Ensemble Zimmermann, and Ensemble Orion, specializing in oratorio and sacred music, with a repertoire that spans key works of the Baroque period.

Complementing her early music work, Hanne’s engagement with contemporary music highlights her versatility and passion for new compositions, improvisation, and non-vocal bodywork. She regularly performs with ensembles and artists who push the boundaries of modern music, such as Scenatet, Bellbird, and composers including Jeppe Ernst, Nikki Martin, Barbara Skovmand Thomsen, Maarit Mustonen, Mette Nielsen, and Michael Rexen, for whom she arranges and sings choral parts in his band. Hanne has also been featured at prominent international festivals, such as the Frequenz Festival, and in 2025, she will appear as a soloist with Ensemble K at the Provinzlärm Festival in Germany.

As a choir and ensemble singer, Hanne holds a position in the world-renowned vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen, which tours globally. In Copenhagen, she sings with the Danish Radio (DR) Concert Choir, performing regularly with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and with Vor Frue Cantori, which is broadcast daily on live TV and radio. Additionally, she works as an assistant in Theatre of Voices, Holmen's Church Cantori, and the DR Vocal Ensemble.

In 2024, Hanne was awarded the Pelle Prize, named after composer Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, by the experimental music festival KLANG and the publisher Edition Wilhelm Hansen, in recognition of her contributions to contemporary music.

Beyond her musical career, Hanne is a certified body- and psychotherapist, specializing in Omnitherapy. She has worked as a mentor in aftercare groups for survivors of domestic abuse, applying principles of existential psychology. In her daily life, Hanne lives on a boat in Copenhagen with her son, rides motorcycles, and enjoys creating and fixing things with her hands.
